About a week ago I decided it was high time I to go back through the stacks of images I returned with from a three-week trip to Africa last year, in an attempt to free up some space on my hard drive and to see whether there were other photos that looked better to me now than they immediately did after I returned home and began developing what at that time I'd considered the best. A very interesting exercise indeed, to revisit work that one hasn't looked at in more than a year with a fresh set of eyes!

For my first six days in South Africa I stayed at a private reserve in Limpopo Province, a wonderful place that is home to a number of different species of rescued and orphaned cats. This is one of the first images I captured of six-month old Lion cub, and as you may be able to tell from the background and the slightly wet fur, this first morning in South Africa started off somewhat cold and damp.
