Sligachan, Skye, Scotland

At Sligachan on the Isle of Skye the red Cuillins and the harsher black Cuillins meet with dramatic results resulting in one of the most fabulous mountain skylines in the whole of the British Isles. I visited early September when a few of Scotland's worst predator, the Scottish midge were still enthusiastically searching for food - me. Scenically the benefit is a tapestry of magenta and green hues of heather and green leafed bushes, mixed up with rapidly turning bracken which produces a kaleidoscope of natural colours beneath the last vestiges of a rare sunset.
