I photographed this light show in Newport, Oregon in November of 2011. The old adage about red skies in the morning held true in this case. About an hour later the weather turned foul and remained that way for several days. It was one of the rare times I have witnessed a brilliant sky like this in a location with such a large and perfect reflective surface in front of me. The light was bouncing off the clouds, sky and water and felt like it was coming from all directions at once. I left out foreground elements intentionally to create the illusion that the harbor is adrift in a universe of orange light.
