This is a North Chinese Leopard and is the third rarest cat in the world. These leopards are found in China. It’s range extends from Sichaun in southern China, north to Beijing. Their fragmented population are found mostly in isolated mountain ranges.
It is estimated there are approximately 2500 remaining in the wild, and there are fewer than 100 in captivity. Nearly all the captive North Chinese leopards are found in zoos in Europe.
They are listed as endangered by the IUCN as their population continues to dwindle.
Their numbers are dwindling for the same old reasons US. Becomes a little tiring having to write the same old thing....
I have darkened the background completely on this because of those whiskers!!! It is also an awkward composition because this is full frame but I loved how close she was. Once again captured at WHF in Kent, she can be a little shy and would not even show herself on my first visit there but she completely captured my heart.
