Our church meets in a movie theatre and for a long time I have been eying the huge reflective screen and wondering what kind of reflector that thing would make. I decided to finally try it out. So this Sunday after the service I grabbed my buddy Kyle and brought him into one of the empty theatre’s and gave it a try. I pointed my flash straight backwards at the screen and it basically turned in to one huge soft box. I am not so great at flash so it took me awhile to get the settings right, but it ended up looking just how I pictured it.
I have also been hugely inspired by photographers like jeremy cowart and the duck duck collective recently and their use of textures. I have been dying to give it a try and this photo was perfect for it. I used a kinda grunge texture and that yellow bokeh texture and layerd them all up in Photoshop.
This photo has gotten me really excited about learning more about external flash techniques, and using textures to make pictures that stand out from the rest.
