Well I couldn’t decide if I liked the full color version, or the “selective coloring” version better, so I decided to upload both of them and let you decide. As far as the subject in the photo, it’s a bird named a “Cormorant”. They are very efficient hunters, and eat primarily fish. They hunt by swimming and diving into the water from flight or the shore, Cormorants may dive five up to 25 feet for lengths of up to 70 seconds. They can eat fish as large as 15 pounds, but primarily eat smaller 2-6 inch fish. The feathers on a Cormorant are not fully waterproof though, so you will often find them spending time with their wings extended to dry their feathers (what you see in the photo).
