Wildlife: Beauty In The Eye Of The Beholder

This shot brings back some vivid and tough memories. I had taken a drive out just to clear my head, and I drove past a field with some beautiful horses chowing down. As I drove past I just felt the urge to stop, so I turned round pulled in the lay-by and went and stood by the gate to the field and watched them.

This beautiful lady walked up and stood with me for well it must have been 15 minutes having a nice scratch on the nose. It is funny, I have never had any horses or been involved with them in any aspects of my life, however my girlfriend whose family history is based in cattle farming in Rockhampton, has riden most of her life. She always says to me that they are as close to dogs in terms of being your best friend and from this small experience I can believe it. I certainly felt like she knew what I was going through at the time, and while all the other horses were eating she stood with me the whole time.

I had to get a picture to remember her, and this was the one that resonated the most with me, her beautiful eyes, I certainly felt like she was looking out for me that day. I hope in the future, if we are lucky enough that we will have a couple of horses, they really are magnificent animals.
