This photo was taken whilst on a trip to Kenya in November this year. Whilst visiting an orphanage in the village of Utange near Mombassa, I met with a lady called Florence who had set up a nursery in her home to try and help some of the local children who couldn't afford school to get a chance in life. Her 1 and only room had been turned into a classroom, and her porch (show below) split into 2 classrooms for 60 young children. The image captures a whole range of emotions in the children's faces, and the blackboard is a subtle way of showing the classroom situation. An incredible story of someone who is passionate about helping her community, and a real show of what life is like for children in these rural areas of Africa.
