The Muslim Quarter is one of the four quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem. The neighborhood is located in the northeastern part of it, covers 31 hectares and has a population of 22,000.
Several of the neighborhood streets are open markets (souks) animated and full of colors, for example the street "el-Wad" (the valley), beginning at the Damascus Gate and followed the historical course of Tyropoeon. The market extends even to the exterior of the walls (except on Fridays, the day of prayer among Muslims, in which everything is closed).
