This was taken during the last hours of our last day on the tundra. He was the only bear we spotted that was close enough to photograph. What’s more, he decided to walk into some killer backlighting with the snow blowing in the air behind him!
Despite the sub zero temps, I stayed out on back of the Polar Rover and fired away with the camera. It must have sounded like a machine gun as I ripped off 10 frames a second, trying for that perfect expression and perfect body position. Despite the fast frame rate, this was the only shot that had the pose and expression I was hoping for! Whew!
