Took this shot on St Kilda Pier in Melbourne. I was out with my girlfriend just catching some sea air, and the pier is such a great attraction for a photographer for landscape and structural shots.

What I did not bank on were a group of old guys fishing off the pier. It really was a bonus, and on walking around for an hour or so I noticed just how patient they were, content to simply sit alone staring out to sea waiting for a bite. This is the opposite to my personality, I would be bouncing off the wall if it was me.

I was drawn in by the character of these guys though and wanted to capture the isolation and quiet patience which is part of the process. I like this shot, I think it captured the mood and the moment as I experienced it while I was there.
