Fog-shouded Kolob Canyon, showing layers of sandstone and evergreens creeping up through the rocks. If you look closely, you can see the sandstone crumbling as the trees increase in height and girth.

Kolob Canyon is a seldom visited part of Zion National Park. It's located off route 15 near New Harmony, Utah, USA and is well worth the vist.

As you round each hair-pin curve you will "Ooh" and Aw" at every curve and every balanced rock.

The day was cold, the winds were blowing, and it was a wonderful way to spend this past Sunday morning.

By the way, the very first residents of the Canyon were the Anasazi or the "ancient ones." The word, "Kolob" is from Mormon scripture and does mean "Residence Closest to Heaven."
