I was out on two consecutive nights, 12th & 13th December 2013, to watch & capture the Geminid Meteor showers. I went to two separate destinations, in faraway Olpad regions, to beat the city light pollution. 12th was a damp squib for the Meteor showers, but 13th really made it up, for being awake till 3 am in the morning. Meteors were supposed to originate from the Gemini constellation’s Castor star, in the North East sky, but they ran berserk from everywhere!
Standing alone under a moonless night, with a spectacular meteor show under a starry night does two things to you – First is of course the “Aaah Haaa!” experience on witnessing the heavenly bodies move at their predetermined orbits. Second & more importantly it infuses tremendous amounts of humility in us, as we understand our extremely insignificant role in the overall bigger picture of the Universe.
