On my first night at the private reserve I was staying at last year in Limpopo Province, South Africa, my good friend Stu had prepared in advance a pair of off-camera flash units outside the enclosure of a female Leopard that I would be working with quite a bit over the next few days.

This was a first for me, though really all I had to do was wait until the lady was in close enough proximity to squeeze off some shots. Inexperienced and excited as I was at the time, I ended up firing off a few frames too quick for both flash units to charge up fully again, this being the result of one of those occasions, but I actually prefer the effect of the single flash to many of those where light was coming from two directions.

I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful festive season ahead :^)
