Many people hike the Laugavegur each year, a popular 4 day trek across a dramatic and varied landscape. One of the highlights is the view over Alftavatn (Swan Lake) and the volcanic plains beyond. Keen to get the best view possible I avoided the main trail and headed up a nearby peak to get as much elevation as possible. The weather set in as soon as I had set my tent up on top, but come the evening a few breaks in the cloud cover gave me some light to work with! Not long after this image I was hunkered down in my tent as the rain came lashing down. It was to be the last rain I saw on the trip, the following 5 days were sunny and the rest were completely dry, very unusual for Iceland!
