A simple picture to be sure, but there is much behind why I chose to capture the memory of what is targeted in it: This is a view of where Kurt Cobain would have been (the Young Street Bridge over the Wishkah River in Aberdeen, WA) when he was singing of being underneath a bridge in Nirvana's song "Something In The Way"... I didn't leave a message for him as many others before me had, but I got to see something like what he may have seen as a kid and young man seeking shelter and safety and trying to understand where his life was going... Behind me were the very muddy banks of the Wishkah filled with reeds, floating lumber or maybe just dead trees and tree parts, other miscellaneous floating things, and the sound of traffic passing overhead and children playing or maybe trying to play but squealing instead in the rain in the nearby neighborhood. It was raining quite heavily at the time, so it was nice to enjoy the shelter that the bridge provided and talk about Nirvana and other random things as I enjoyed a beer with an Aberdeen local that I crossed paths with as he was enjoying his favorite place to take care of his "medicinal" needs. It was nice to see this for myself and to sit and walk where Cobain may have sat and walked some time ago as he soaked in some of what ended up inspiring him to do what he and the rest of Nirvana did for too short a time...
