Without a doubt Monument Valley is the most beautiful place I have ever visited in my life. I was fortunate enough to be a part of a photography tour of this magnificent place and as part of the tour the group was taken to Hunts Mesa to camp overnight and marvel at the incredible views of the valley below. The "road" to Hunts Mesa is by Navajo jeep guides and the journey took three hours to reach the summit. I describe the drive to Hunts Mesa like driving up the staircase of a skyscraper making it one of the most exciting - and nailbiting - trips I have ever taken.
When we reached the summit our Navajo guides had set up camp for us and we spent the rest of the evening in awe at the chiaroscuro light that fell on the Monuments below. A huge rolling thunderstorm boomed through the canyon and was followed by biblical cloud and light. Then from somewhere below us we heard Native American drums and chanting and I thought we were in a dream. Then early the next morning we awoke to a glorious sunrise and took even more breathtaking photos of this incredible place.
