This is the latest addition to the Halifax Public Gardens. It was built in 2004, with the proceeds raised by a 24-hour radio campaign organized by Public Gardens Foundation, following the devastation of Hurricane Juan. More than $1000000.00 was donated by the citizens and local businesses of Halifax, who rallied to give support to the reconstruction of their beloved Public Gardens.
At the center of the plaza is a fountain whose lower basin is held up by fours lovely swans. On either side of this fountain are two new trellised buildings, which house the family washrooms, and provide a shady spot to sit in.
