In an effort to close out the 2012 year on a good note; and Pastor Larry F,and myself decided to do a florida mini tour...So here's the drill..picked Larry up at 4am, and drove north to Merritt Island wildlife Refuge, and then headed back south to assist in the Hendry County CBC. We had a blast, and managed to photograph a boat load of species...One of the hardest, and perhaps, one of most stealthy stalkers among them all ..is shown. A master at standing motionless for long periods, and blending in so well with the natural habitat, as he stalks his prey! The American Bittern, is Beautiful period, but to just witness it's hunting, & natural behavior is just plain cool!! I found it remarkable, that at merritt, we actually drove by 4 or 5 on the back loop, totally camo'd in the dry, and browning weeds. It wasn't until i saw another photographer, all excited, and pointing, that i saw them..!! Wildlife, and nature photography is forever teaching me... Got to Love it Folks!! Click on Image to darken
