This beautiful creature is a Matico (Icterus croconotus, previously, Icterus icterus), it's found from Colombia to the north of Argentina. The problem here is that the photo was taken in... Buenos Aires (almost 1000km south from where it's supposed to live!). It's one of the "stars" of our little Ecological Reserve and it's been puzzling nature photographers and birdwatchers since the first time he was spotted in 2007. The most accepted theory is that, though it's forbbiden, someone used to keep it at home. Traffic of fauna is a huge problem here, specially for nice birds like these. But this one got awy- and it just escaped. Good for him!
