August 15th, it was. Nearly the middle of my month-long solo trek across Alaska's Boundary Range. One of the world's most glaciated areas, the Boundary Range still features some amazingly lush gems hidden away on the islands of land between the masses of ice. At this time of year, I figured those flowers had waited so long for this moment.
The next day brought me across the left side of the glacier you see in the background of this picture, and off into the frozen world again for the next day and a half.
