Loch A Chroisg, Achnasheen, Scotland

Most of Loch A Chroisg near Achnasheen was shrouded in an impenetrable freezing mist and this had lent weight to the build up of hoar frost over the three days of temperatures that were consistently below -20 degrees Celcius. On the third day the sun managed to make a partial impression and I shot this solitary birch with its companion shrub at the boundary of mist and sunlight such that the first light of dawn glows luminous and pink on the mountain slopes behind.
