This is Horseshoe Bend shot before dawn on a cold November morning. The drop is 1,000 feet (308 meters) to the Colorado River below. This is right at sunrise at the canyon and you can see the first light hitting the Vermillion Cliffs in the background. It's almost impossible to see on this small picture but there are 5 boats tied up on the coral-colored beach below with a crowd of river campers scattered toward the cliffs. This overlook is just a couple of minutes south of Page, AZ and is easily accessed by a short (3/4 mile) trail. Just bring water because there are no facilities at the trailhead which is clearly marked on Highway 89.
