Southgate tube station on the Piccadilly Line was opened in March 1933 and is a Grade II* building. it's circular in shape with a flat roof and the feature on the roof is meant to represent a Tesla Coil

It was built in the Art Deco style, the architect being the great Charles Holden who also designed many other well know stations along this line.

I remember talking to one of the station operatives once about the building and he said that when it was renovated in 2008 that all of the lovely bronze looking lighting next to the escalators were thrown in the skip and they had to ask for them to be returned!
