This shot is from the world famous Antelope Slot Canyons of Page, Arizona. Many photographers both professional and amateur visit this brilliant natural phenomenon each year. In April of 2012, I made my first pilgrimage to the slot canyons. The first day in Page we went to the much less visited Lower Antelope Slot Canyon. As we arrived into town late, we had made it to the canyon in just enough time to explore before the Navajo Tribal Park closed up shop for the day. To our surprise and enjoyment we were the only 2 people in the entire canyon. This allowed my Fiance and I to take our time and not worry about being in other visitors way with our tripods and bulky backpacks. The photo above was by far my favorite composition of the day. After developing the picture and showing it to a few people including my Finance, they could see the silhouette of a woman’s body in the right wall of the canyon. Maybe this is why subconsciously I liked the composition in the first place or maybe it was just a happy accident but either way, I am really happy with the end result. Taken with my Nikon D90 and Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8.
