Loch Maree, Torridon, Scotland

Loch Maree in the Torridon area is surrounded by coniferous pine woodland including native Scots Pine, lodge pole pine and larch. The last of these, larch, turns the colour of burnished gold in early November ultimately shedding its needles. The colour is astonishing and even more so when it is wet and has been polarised to lose all reflective content. I enjoyed the hour glass composition of this stream as it cut a corridor of water through the trees.
