Today I went out to the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management area. At this time of year you can see bald eagles, hawks and other raptors, as well as geese, swans, ducks, and other interesting creatures.

I did see those things, but I wasn't really close enough with my setup to get a good photo. It was a very foggy morning. I took a lot of photos, not much I liked that much. But, I thought this one was kind of nice.

According to Wikipedia that plant is actually called Typha. I've always known it as a cat tail. The thick part on the stem is a tight cluster of female flowers. Apparently you can eat the core of the stem, although I never have.
