The Water Rail is a scarce breeding bird in our country who seldom shows itself, but with a little bit of luck it lets hear from him. Do you have, while walking through a swampy terrain sometimes, hearing the scream of a lean pig, you know now that that comes from the Water Rail! Part of the Water Rails is a staying bird for the whole year and remains so throughout the year in our country. In winter when the water is frozen sometimes you may see them along frozen reeds. Flying they rarely do, they disappear rather already running out of sight. I had lucky to find some unfrozen water where they can eat. It is a question of patience and time for they come.
