Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) 21 cm. This is a Winter visitor, found near water bodies and shore line. This shot was taken in the rain while I was waiting for the female painted snipe. I was waiting in the rain and the sandpiper was hunting for food in the rain and the strangest thing that happened was that nobody was singing in the rain. The wait for the female Greater Painted Snipe proved to be futile and the Sandpiper was a little bonus for the day.
