But tonight I made almost every mistake in the book. First thing I noticed was that I had forgotten my flashlight, which made it a lot more difficult. I couldn't pick the spots I really wanted since it's piched dark outside, so I had to find a place close to my car this time. Then I found out that the mount to my sturdy tripod was attached to my 70-200mm which in this case was home since I only brought the camera, lense and tripod.
So I had to improvise before it was to late. I had a cheap and not so sturdy tripod in the car and I jammed is as hard as I could down in the snow since it was a lot of wind.
At least I got back with some half decent shots.
Note to self: Prepare better next time!
By the way. The bright orange light on the right is from the tunnel. All other lights... well you guessed it. The Aurora Borealis.
