Malayan Tiger (p.tigris jacksoni)

Malayan tigers are one of the most in risk of extinction w/ only about 500 or less left in their natural habitat, the malay peninsula.

Many certified zoos participate in the SPP - Species Survival Plan which genetically matches tigers for breeding in order to keep the species alive in captivity in case they actually go extinct in the wild.

Although not what anybody wants but its a responsible and assertive measure.

ZooMiami (where I photographed this gorgeous male malayan) is one of the zoos which are trying their best to match and mate this tiger.
