I'm reading a book where the main premise is the Black Death, which killed ~30% of the western world in the middle ages in the real world, in fact killed 99% of the population - how might history have changed if such an event occurred? It's a good book and it discusses things that although I'm loosely familiar with, I don't know a lot about it prompted me to do some research.

One section describes an Islamic hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, to visit the Kaaba. This is one of the most sacred sites in Islam and when I googled it to learn more, saw some spectacular images of people praying in concentric circles around it.

I can't exactly get there to take a photo myself but it inspired me to recreate the scene using some iron filings and a cube magnet :)
