How many of you remember when I made the proclamation that I was #GoingPro almost a year ago? In January 2012, I said that I was going to quit my day job and be a pro photographer by June. I got a lot of encouragement and skepticism for that bold plan. It hasn't worked out exactly as I thought back in January. I've learned a ton and in some ways it's much better than I anticipated despite still working at my day job.


I wrote a cool post about how I optimized my website to jump started my business and earn paying clients. I'm sharing it more as a case study rather than a 10-step guide to going pro. If you have similar aspirations to go pro, read it and pick from it any nuggets that may help you down the road. It's the clear transparency from other photographers before me that have helped keep me humble and motivated to keep moving forward.

This is a fun shot of Cinder Cone in Lassen National Park that I've yet to share. That little cloud in the V shape had just been hit by a beam of sun that shot through the big thunder storm out of the frame to the left.
