OK, the river wasn't exactly leisurly ... there were rapids and stuff. ;p But I couldn't help being reminded of the phrase from Lewis Carroll as we traveled through a wonderland.

This day turned into a very windy night (after I had decided not to setup a tent and enjoy the fresh air instead). Needless to say, not much sleep. By morning, my sleeping bag was covered in a considerable layer of sand. No morning shots since I missed the wake-up call and had to scramble to pack up in time for the next days adventure. The canyon walls are slowly getting higher ...

* I decided not to lug my bigger tripod on the trip (and the telescoping legs would've probably seized wtih all the sand anyway), so all of my shots will be from this little tripod perched on top of rocks. ;p I need to get a sturdier tripod head so it can hold vertical shots more reliably, but other than that, I thought the little tripod worked great!
