Now that President Obama has designated National Park status for the former Pinnacles National Monument, Soledad, California (the closest town to the west entrance) has been proactive in promoting that they are "The Gateway to the Pinnacles." My hometown of Hollister (the closest town to the east entrance) has been seemingly on the sidelines! I hope our elective officials take advantage of the fact the we now have a National Park in our backyard and realize that we are the main gateway for the entire Bay Area! National Parks = tourist dollars. Hopefully an advertising campaign is in the works! Does anyone out there know? Please share!
