i already had my camera equipment set up; evidently i was over-ambitious in my plan to shoot the pictured beach trees under the starry dome earlier that morning (as i had done the previous morning) because i had slept through that caper as well.
as i walked down the beach, i watched helplessly (wide angle lens mounted and nothing even remotely interesting to use as a foreground in sight) as a red light pillar appeared, marking the forthcoming sunrise.
i made a few shots on the way to this one, which seems to better typify the beauty of this park, and of that morning.
