I couldn't believe the light I witnessed on day one of my vacation. I make my way down the 400 ft sea cliff at twilight not knowing what to expect once I got to the shoreline. I heard of the black sand beaches in Hawaii but such stories one must see for themselves. As I approach the beach walking through the thick groves of trees that line the beach, I see the under lit clouds start to form with color. Its true, the stories of the black sand beach are real. I look at the horizon and close my eyes. I wanted to take a moment to absorb all of my surroundings before I pressed that shutter button. I feel the cool coastal breeze on my face. I can smell the ocean. The slight mist hits my skin. The coast.........what a place to be. The sand has the feel of baby powder; so fine, so smooth. Hard to believe that there is a beach of such beauty.
