On many mornings, there are two times to photograph vibrant sky color. Once very early (up to 30 minutes prior to posted sunrise) when the color is an intense red with some pinks. In the mountains, this color can be extremely rich based on the elevation one is standing (Bryce Canyon, Utah is a great example). That initial color will fade as the rising sun nears. Then there is the period of "bounce back" color as the sunrise lights the sky (especially if there are clouds present). The color of this light is more orange. Today's image took advantage of the first color just as it was fading, which I captured 10 minutes prior to posted sunrise time. On clear sky days, it is often the best light of the day!
