The other night I decided to hike and climb down to a place I used to visit quite often. The hike down into this gorge is treacherous to say the least. A slip would mean at least a sixty foot fall into 34 degree water. However, it is well worth the effort. When the dam is closed the water pours out from the gates into a thousand little to medium sized cascades all over the area, which is about 200 hundred yards across. There are endless photographic opportunities here. This one is my favorite. I wanted a shot that would use the last remaining light of the day to illuminate the cascades pouring down in front of me while at the same time shadowing the rocks around. I think it works well.
