Yesterday saw me completing my first winter ascent of the Matterhorn........of Cheshire! AKA Shutlingsloe. It was a very very bitter day, with temperatures around -5 at the summit then having to battle with feirce winds not only making it a nightmare to take photos and stay stood up but also adding to the wind chill factor. However, it was more than worth it in my eyes. The weather didn't look promising but I wanted to make the most of what could possibly be the last snow of the season and I'm glad I did because it was actually some of the best light I've seen in a long while, with fast moving clouds and breaking sun....you can even see the snow storm approaching in the distance....sometimes you wish you record the moments as they were experienced rather than a still image which looks fairly tranquil.
