A 10 inch wingspan Atlas moth photographed in Asia. This is a combination of four different photos using Photoshop and three different filters and some of my own drawing efforts.

These huge silk moths are the worlds largest. There is only one Lepidoptera larger and that is the White witch with an eleven inch wingspan. In Asia the Atlas moths are called the snakes head moth--look at the wingtips and you will see why.

While a silk moth, it is not used by the silk industry because the fibers are produced in short lengths. The cacoons have been used to make ladies handbags!
