The casa where I stayed while in Trinidad, la Regidor, had a beautiful courtyard & garden just outside the restaurant area. There were these three brothres who sat out most of the afternoon strumming lazy latin ballads just below my balcony window.
This was the only meal I had at the room where I was staying actually. I found that the best way to experience the local fare is to accept one of the many invitations to eat at one of the Casa Particulaires, which are basically homes that people open to tourists where you can either eat or stay overnight. The best (home cooked) meal I had in Cuba by far was at one of these Casa Particulaires.
