If you're looking for architectural art, more often than not you'll have to look no further than the closest church. Lucky for me New York has many to choose from! This particular one, St. Thomas on 5th Avenue, is a wonderful example of modern French High Gothic Style with its all-stone construction and intricate detail. The building, completed in 1913, is actually the fourth St. Thomas, the last destroyed by fire...a familiar fate of many historic buildings of New York. The large circular window (known as the Rose window) sits above sculptures of nine saints. They are (from left to right): St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Augustine of Canterbury, St. Andrew the Apostle, St. George, St. Alban, St. Patrick, St. David of Whales, St. Columba, St. John Chrysostom. I made a pure black and white version as well, but I preferred the natural tones highlighted by the rising sun in this version.

Hope you enjoy. Thanks for the visit!
