Night time photo of female (left) and male (right) Promethea silkmoths. I found the female earlier in the day on some low bushes and the male found her. I took some photos of the actual mating but the sun was a problem. They were together from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. when I last checked them. They flew away over night. It was a beautiful scene, Wingspan is around 3 1/2 inches. The females are always lighter than the black males so it is easy to tell them apart. It is not an easy task to find these moths and to find two together was a real find for me.
