I finally managed to do some proper long exposure work here in Malaysia last week and boy was it good! We spent the weekend in Port Dickson, south of Kuala Lumpur, and I was able to get out and shoot for a couple of hours at sunrise.A heavy storm earlier meant that the skies were dark and overcast - conditions most would consider bad for photography. You might not get a blazing sunrise on a morning like this but the soft light means that you’re able to capture a lot more in the shadow areas of your image. Perfect for shooting small details or for shooting minimal scenes, such as this one. Contrast is usually very low in conditions like this but that can be rectified somewhat in post-processing.Always stay open to possibilities and remember, there’s no such thing as bad light.
