I had already seen her from a distance, selling small trinkets. She saw me approaching her with my cam & the rather prominent 70-200 lens. She looked nonchalantly in my eyes & confidently called out with lots of grace & dignity in her voice: "Baabuji, maro Photu Levo Se?" (Sir, would you like to take a picture of me?) The harsh weather of Kutch Rann, had left it's indelible severe mark on her face, more than the vagaries of time & yet she had a sparkle in her eyes which was quite captivating. She lifted her veil aside to show her silver & I gleefully obliged! I bought a few useless trinkets from her smiling all the while, admiring her sharp street smart, selling skills!
