I was back to the Lake District again last weekend in Wasdale. The weather was great when I arrived and a sunset looked promising. The order of the day was panoramics. I set off up Lingmell to try and capture a nice mountain view sunset from here, but half way up I couldn't see anything below me or anything above due to thick cloud rolling in. It really did start to look very much like a no go. I waited around a while, having something to eat and the clouds above parted slightly just to reveal the sun, at this point I thought it might be back on again. I proceeded to spend the next hour deciding whether or not to risk it or go back down to edge my bets at Wast Water to at least get something and even headed 10 minutes down the hill. However, the light eventually did come good and I headed back up quickly to capture this first photo as the sun broke through the stormy skies to light up the lower slopes of Lingmell. The sunset in the end was fantastic, with lots of productive images made...but more on that later!
