We started the climb to Gokyo Ri at around 3pm. Half-five we've been on the summit and occupied the best shooting positions. The view was great, but a lot of clouds on the West partly covered Everest, Nuptse and Makalu so we only hoped they would be gone by the time the sun would set. We've been rewarded for the patience and made a few good shots of these great summits. The sun set and only last rays of lights were still illuminating the highest peaks, we were thinking of starting a decent but decided to wait for a few more minutes. Suddenly the sky opposite to the sunset became purpur and violet - this was probably the most beautiful afterlight I saw in my life.
