Popped up to OR over the weekend to shoot some dark skies. Crater was a nice place to stop at about 1 AM on Friday night after driving up from the Bay Area after work. This tree was in a great place to enjoy a nice cold beer and suck in some stars.Lots of airglow this night but I kind of like the added color it brings to the night sky. This image is a blend of two exposures, one short 30 second exposure at ISO 3200 to freeze the stars and detail in the milky way, and one long 245 second exposure at ISO 400 for clarity and detail of the rest of the scene. The images were blended using knowledge I gained by going through Josh Cripps Photoshop Selection Tutorial
. He has a great way of explaining some pretty complicated topics and will keep you interested with some of his humorous quips.
