Another sunset scene from the Kona side of Hawaii in Pauoa Bay. Found this little cove just up the shore from Muana Lani. Loved the small natural bridge and the over hanging palms. The sun was setting in the perfect spot. My Wife and I had dinner reservations shortly after sunset at a restaurant I could walk to from here. I set up the camera on the rocks and right next to it was a little pocket that I was actually able to sit and recline in facing the view with my cameras LCD right in my face. I sat there perfectly relaxed watching the sunset, clicking away. Most relaxing sunset shot I've ever taken! Usually I'm in full panic mode trying to get everything! Finished up and went to the best dinner I had on the whole island with my beautiful wife. It was a perfect evening.
A little technical for you. This is two exposures blended, one of them double processed. I was able to get most of the dynamic range out of one raw file. I processed the main raw file once for the shadows, once for the highlights, and then used an additional exposure to balance the sun spot. I've been so pleased with how the D600 handles dynamic range. Most of the time I'm able to get an even exposure out of a very wide dynamic scene using only two exposures.
